Construction alert: U District Station
U District: Late night work on Tuesday, March 17 to pour concrete for the light rail station foundation
Crews building the U District Station are planning to work into the late evening hours on Tuesday, March 17, to pour concrete for a section of the light rail station foundation (weather permitting).
Crews will be pouring the concrete inside the light rail station construction wall approximately 30 feet below ground. Due to the amount of concrete that needs to be poured, crews will need to work extended hours to perform this work. The City of Seattle has approved a temporary noise variance for this activity. Crews expect to complete the work around midnight. No high impact noise activities for this operation (such as jackhammering) are scheduled to take place after 5 p.m.
What to expect:
- Concrete trucks entering the site from Northeast 43rd Street at the alley just west of University Way NE. Flaggers will escort the trucks onsite upon arrival.
- Noise from the concrete trucks, pump truck, forklift, and crane.
- Lights to illuminate the work area.
